FC Porto 2-1 CSKA Moscow: Report

Porto's pursuit of the treble continued as they progressed through to the last eight of the Europa League with a 2-1 home win over CSKA Moscow.

Having taken a one-goal lead back to Portugal with an impressive win a week ago, Andres Villas Boas' men got off to the perfect start when Hulk gave them a first-minute lead.

Things improved 23 minutes later when Fredy Guarin put them 3-0 up overall and, despite Zoran Tosic pulling one back for Moscow, Porto's pursuit of the league, cup and European trophies remains in tact.

Just 16 seconds had elapsed when Eugeni Aldonin brought down Fredy Guarin, and, from the subsequent free-kick, Hulk`s fizzing effort evaded everyone and went in off the woodwork.

Vagner Love had the chance to get his side back on terms on the night with a header, but was unable to do any danger, before Tosic took aim from distance to similar effect.

Porto took advantage of the Russians being unable to take their chances too, and doubled their lead after 24 minutes.

Sergei Ignashevich's header back to Igor Akinfeev was awkward, and forced the keeper to fumble. In the confusion, James Rodriquez nipped in to cross, missing out Falcoa but finding Guarin, who rammed home his third goal in as many games.

Falcoa and Hulk then saw efforts miss the target as Porto probed for more goals, before, in the 29th minute, Tosic left Helton with no chance as he finished off an Alan Dzagoev pass,

Jorge Rolando and Falcoa both missed chances for the home side after the break, while Eugeni Aldonin should have done better when presented with a chance to pull the visitors level on the night.

Porto were now settling for chancing their arm from distance, Hulk the main protagonist, while Rolande had a `goal' chalked off for using his hand to convert.

Vagner Love and Mark Gonzalez had fruitless efforts from outside of the box, but it was too late for Moscow to pick up any late momentum and do anything to prevent Porto seeing out the tie with some ease.
