New Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock is planning to stamp his mark on the club from the grassroots upwards after being unveiled as Peter Taylor's replacement.
Warnock agreed a three-year contract at Selhurst Park on Thursday and is relishing the prospect of turning around the fortunes of a club that currently lies 19th in the Championship table.
The former Sheffield United boss also claims the possibility of working with Eagles chairman Simon Jordan prompted him to end his sabbatical.
"This is the one position that has got everything for me," he told the club's official website.
"Since I left I've had five or six decent offers but I'd been at Sheffield United for seven-and-a-half years and I didn't feel it was right to jump straight into the first job that came along.
"Simon and I have spoken every week for a number of years and it's an exciting prospect to have two ambitious people working together who want to achieve something.
"We go to Blackpool and then have two home games against Stoke and Watford. We then play Scunthorpe and Cardiff. I'll look at the players over these matches and you won't get a tougher five games.
"Players can have a bad game on the ball but they should never have a bad game off the ball.
"It's a team game and that goes through not just the players on the pitch but through the cleaners, the office staff and the groundsman.
"I will give every opportunity to the players to show me what they can do. We've got to make people smile a bit and have a little bit of fun."
