Warnock hails Watson display
14 Sep 2008 - 11:47:04
Crystal Palace midfielder Ben Watson won praise from boss Neil Warnock for his performance in the 2-0 victory over Swansea City.
Watson netted the opening goal against the Swans, having seemed set to leave Selhurst Park on transfer deadline day after rejecting offer of a new contract from the Eagles.
"I have no problem with Ben, especially when he scores goals like that," Warnock commented.
"One or two of his acquaintances I have a problem with, but never with him. Ben is Ben and he's a smashing lad.
"His future is hopefully playing at Wolves on Tuesday. I don't look much beyond that, to be honest, because we're playing for my future as much as his.
"It will be interesting to see who leaves first, if we don't win any more games! He can have a contract tomorrow, but he doesn't want one so what can you do?
"We've made the point and that's why we had to sell Tom Soares. He's got a year to run on his contract and he can't go on a free next season, either, because we've done our research on this one."
