Taylor slams Soares talk

Crystal Palace manager Peter Taylor has poured scorn on rumours linking Eagles midfielder Tom Soares with a move to Leicester City.

Taylor has seen a number of players exit Selhurst Park this summer, but doesn't expect Soares to join that number.

He told the South London Press: "I knew without the parachute payments I would have to listen to offers for some players.

"If they are not in the team, I owe it to the chairman to save the wages.

"Now I'd like to think I'm covered because that's £3million worth gone. Talk of Tom going to Leicester is a load of old rubbish."

Soares, 20, has been with Palace and has made well over 100 appearances for the club, as well as breaking into the England Under-21s set-up.
