Crystal Palace boss Peter Taylor is hoping to continue in his role as manager of England's Under-21 side for the time being after guiding them to a play-off for the 2007 European Championship finals.
Taylor is likely to be replaced by a full-time appointment by national team coach Steve McClaren in the next few months, but he would like the chance to finish off the job he has started with the Under-21s.
He said after the 3-2 win over Switzerland in Lucerne: "I've got no doubts it will be full-time eventually.
"It is a case of when Steve will decide who they will go for.
"They haven't asked for my advice on that, but Steve and myself have spoken about squad selection and we talk about the Under-21s quite a bit.
"If we got to the finals, of course I'd love to take them there.
"I'm happy to carry on. I'm delighted that I'll, hopefully, be doing it for the next play-off games, which should be very exciting."
