Soares boost for Eagles

Crystal Palace boss Peter Taylor is hoping that midfielder Tom Soares will be back in action much sooner than expected from an ankle injury.

Soares was injured in the 2-0 home reverse at the hands of Southampton a week ago and the immediate prognosis was that he could be out for up to three months.

However, Taylor now believes the 20-year-old could be back in around a month.

He told the club's official website: "It's not as bad as we first thought and he's having another scan after the bruising goes down.

"We're hopeful that it's only going to be a month, whereas the other night it looked as if it could have been three."
