Palace to tie down Scannell

Crystal Palace are keen to tie Sean Scannell down to a new long-term contract after seeing fellow youngster John Bostock leave to join Spurs.

Eagles boss Neil Warnock wants to sign the highly-rated teenage forward down to a lengthy deal.

His admission comes just days after Palace were angered when a tribunal ruled Spurs should pay just £700,000 for Bostock when the Championship club were looking for around £2.5million.

"We're finalising a deal with Sean to commit himself for the next three or four years," Warnock told the South London Press.

"We can't expect too much of him or the other young lads who came into the side last year, but Sean's trained hard in pre-season and he helped turn last season around.

"I expect him to have a big contribution and to get in the Republic squad was a tremendous boost for him."
