Palace set to hire Pulis

Premier League strugglers Crystal Palace are on the verge of appointing former Stoke manager Tony Pulis as their new boss, according to reports on Friday.

Pulis, who has been out of work since leaving Stoke at the end of last season, is reportedly ready to agree a deal to succeed Ian Holloway over the weekend.

The 55-year-old helped establish Stoke in the Premier League during his seven-year spell at the Britannia Stadium, and Palace co-chairman Steve Parish hopes he can do the same at Selhurst Park.

Palace, who parted company with Holloway by mutual consent on October 23, had also been linked with former Chelsea defender Dan Petrescu, who is now manager of Dinamo Moscow, and Wales boss Chris Coleman.

The Eagles, who have been under the guidance of caretaker boss Keith Millen for the past month, are bottom of the Premier League, with four points from 11 games, heading into Saturday's match against Hull at the KC Stadium.
