Palace's Lee risk backfires
23 Sep 2008 - 11:18:59
Crystal Palace striker Alan Lee could be set for a spell on the sidelines after aggravating a hamstring injury in the home defeat to Plymouth Argyle.
The 30-year-old had not played for three weeks, but injuries to James Scowcroft and Calvin Andrew forced Neil Warnock to risk the former Rotherham United and Ipswich Town forward.
However, the move backfired, with Lee having to be substituted at half-time.
Warnock confirmed to the South London Press: "Alan will have a scan and until then we won't know the extent of the damage.
"He felt something just before half-time so we had to bring him off. We were so desperate for him to play that we risked him.
"But we thought he would be okay because he had a couple of training sessions at the end of last week and came through them fine. That lulled us into a false sense of security."
