Palace open Beattie talks

Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock has opened talks with West Bromwich Albion aimed at extending Craig Beattie's loan stay at Selhurst Park.

The Scotland striker has made a flying start to life with the Eagles after netting the winner in last month's south London derby victory over Charlton Athletic.

Beattie joined the Championship club on an initial one-month loan deal, but Warnock is keen to thrash out an extension with his Baggies counterpart Tony Mowbray.

"We sincerely hope we can keep Craig beyond the month and I know Neil has spoken to Tony Mowbray about it already," his assistant, Mick Jones, told the South London Press.

"We might get news on that sooner rather than later.

"Craig has had a big effect on the training ground and in the dressing room."
