Crystal Palace boss Iain Dowie is reported to have made a bid for Stoke City full-back John Halls.
The 22-year-old has attracted the interest of a number of Premiership outfits with his consistent performances for the Potters, but it is believed that Palace are the first club to make a firm offer.
Halls joined Stoke on loan from Arsenal in October 2003, before making the move permanent in December and going on to build a reputation as one of the best defenders in the Football League in the second half of last season.
Palace's offer is rumoured to be in the region of £500,000 and would provide the Championship club with a healthy profit on a player they paid just £120,000 for, should they decide to accept.
Dowie is also reported to be tracking West Brom full-back Neil Clement as he continues to look to strengthen his defence.
