Jordan slams gutless Addicks
14 Nov 2006 - 13:33:38
Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has blasted Charlton Athletic for sacking the former Eagles boss Iain Dowie.
Jordan, who has issued a writ against Dowie over "fraudulent statements about his reasons for leaving the club", does not think the former Northern Ireland international was given enough time to prove himself at The Valley.
Dowie was axed with the Addicks bottom of the Premiership table after 12 games of the season, and Jordan said: "I think Charlton haven't really given him a chance.
"It's a shame because Iain is a bright young coach, and he's a strong character.
"I don't wish anybody the sack. Gutless, faceless people take those decisions, don't they?
"Iain went and joined a club who were not strong enough. I'm disappointed for him. Given time, he'd have done well because he's a winner."
