Crystal Palace boss Peter Taylor has been told to quit as England's Under-21 manager by his club chairman Simon Jordan.
Jordan is unhappy that Taylor's part-time role with the Young Lions is hampering his management duties at Selhurst Park, and feels he would better off concentrating all his efforts on Palace.
Taylor, who has guided the Under-21s to next year's European Championships in Holland, stayed with the Eagles and put Bolton Wanderers assistant manager Sammy Lee in charge for last week's friendly win over Holland Under-21s in Alkmaar.
The decision appears to have paid off as Palace ended a run of nine games without a win by defeating Barnsley 2-0 on Saturday, and Jordan wants Taylor to focus solely on getting the side back on track for a promotion push.
He told the Mirror: "Both times Peter has been away with England, we've lost two or three games on the bounce.
"So we came to an understanding that his focus is here. Peter understands that."
