Fletcher eyes Eagles spot
12 Dec 2007 - 07:20:08
Crystal Palace club captain Carl Fletcher has vowed to fight to regain his starting spot at Selhurst Park, having been left out in recent weeks by boss Neil Warnock.
The 27-year-old Wales international has not started a game for over a month, having initially lost his place due to injury,
However, he is prepared to knuckle and battle to regain his position in the Eagles engine room.
Fletcher told the Wandsworth Guardian: "I've got no divine right to play, I've got to earn my right to play. At the end of the day the manager picks the team so you just get on with it.
"There's no point in moping around because life's too short, all I can do is work hard and things will turn out for the best.
"I'm not going to be happy if I'm sitting on the bench forever, but you have to get on with it. It's only a short career, so you have to enjoy it.
"It's going to be difficult to get back in the side because everyone is doing well, but that just goes to show our strength in depth."
