Eagles set to lose Watson

Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock is preparing to lose coveted midfielder Ben Watson.

Watson, 22, has been offered a new deal at Selhurst Park, but Warnock believes he is losing the battle to keep the former England Under-21 international at the club.

Big-spending Championship rivals QPR are believed to be interested in signing the player, who still has 12 months remaining on his existing deal.

"We've offered Ben the best contract we could offer anyone at the club at this moment in time but I don't think he's going to accept it," Warnock told he club's official website.

"We'll speak to him again, but I think he feels it might be time in his career to move on, which will be a disappointment for us but it's one of those things.

"We want players who are fully committed and Ben and his advisor might think the grass is greener elsewhere."
