Eagles reward for Freedman
12 Jun 2008 - 12:54:00
Crystal Palace have awarded long-serving striker Dougie Freedman with a testimonial against Premier League side Fulham.
Freedman, 34, has made more than 370 appearances and scored 108 goals during two spells with the Eagles spanning a decade.
The former Scotland international spent the second half of last season on loan at Leeds United, but is hoping to persuade manager Neil Warnock that he still has a future at Selhurst Park.
"This is an achievement in my career that I have been looking forward to and I would like to thank the chairman (Simon Jordan) for making it possible," he told the club's official website.
"I want to thank the fans for what they have done for me.
"Not many players have disappointing games for their club and get applauded off the field but that has happened many a time to me. I will never forget how special they have been to me."
