Eagles interested in Teddy

Crystal Palace boss Peter Taylor has revealed his interest in signing veteran West Ham striker Teddy Sheringham.

Sheringham, 41, is out of contract in the summer and would be available on a free transfer.

However, although Taylor admits he is a fan of Sheringham, any move the former England international hinges on whether he can make room on the wage bill.

"Everybody knows I admire him, but I am in the same situation. If someone does not move from here, then it makes it difficult for me to bring people in," he told the Croydon Guardian.

"Teddy looks after himself, he's fit, a good professional and can still do a job."

The former Tottenham and Manchester United striker's son, Charlie, signed for the Eagles last summer but has yet to make a first-team appearance.

Meanwhile, Taylor has revealed talks with out-of-contract pair Dougie Freedman and Gary Borrowdale are still ongoing.
