Eagles hand trial to Oster

Crystal Palace have handed a trial to former Wales international winger John Oster.

The 29-year-old is a free agent after leaving Reading at the end of last season and recently featured for the Eagles in a pre-season clash with Dover Athletic, having spent time with Derby County this summer.

Eagles boss Neil Warnock told the Croydon Advertiser: "John Oster is currently on trial with us, but that's as far as it has gone."

Meanwhile, Warnock has confirmed that Ben Watson will not be involved in the first team as the new season gets underway, with the midfielder having made it clear that he wants to leave the club.

He added: "Ben is not in my plans.

"He's made it clear he wasn't going to sign a new contract and that's why we went out and signed Nick Carle. He won't be involved."
