Butterfield hints at exit

Crystal Palace defender Danny Butterfield has hinted that he could leave Selhurst Park after growing increasingly frustrated by his lack of first-team opportunities.

The 27-year-old former Grimsby Town star has started only two Championship games since February and is tired of spending most of his time on the Eagles substitute's bench.

Butterfield admitted to the Croydon Advertiser: "I'm very frustrated I haven't been playing.

"I thought I had a good pre-season. I was raring to go, but so far I've just been sat waiting for my chance. It's not been a pleasant time for me.

"I haven't really spoken to the manager about it. I was told at the start of the season Matty Lawrence would be starting at right-back, so I knew I'd have to wait for my chance. But time's running out.

"My priority's to play football, wherever that may be. We'll just have to wait and see.

"Going on loan to get some football under my belt is an option. If I'm not offered a new contract, I'm going to have to find another club."
