Burley swoops for Wright

Former Ipswich Town defender David Wright is George Burley's first signing as Crystal Palace manager.

Wright, 30, was released by the Tractor Boys at the end of last season and has now agreed a two-year contract at Selhurst Park.

"I have played 80-90 per cent of my career in the Championship so I know this league very well," the full-back told his new club's official website. "I think fans should be excited about this new era.

"When the gaffer was at Ipswich he did an incredible job and I spoke to the players who played under him there and they had nothing but good words to say about him.

"He told me he wants to play a passing game, moving the ball around quickly which suits me."
