Yoga bares fruit for Palace

Crystal Palace manager Dougie Freedman has turned to yoga to help his side beat the drop from the npower Championship. The recently-appointed Eagles boss has won just three of his 12 games in charge, leaving Palace four points above the relegation zone. But the ex-Scotland striker, who scored over 100 goals for the east London club in two spells as a player, believes his new approach could be beneficial. "I introduced the yoga a few weeks ago, which was something I was taking part in towards the end of my career," Freedman told the Mirror. "We now do it twice a week and the lads are seeing the benefit of it. It is not just the physical aspect - it is also the mental aspect to take the pressure away and calm them down a little bit. "We don't do it because Ryan Giggs does it. I did it towards the end of my career and it really helped me. It is about giving the guys the opportunity to get together in a room, very quiet, and stretch. They have got the option and if they don't take it up, it is not a problem for me. I feel it is something that will help."
