The midfielder underwent successful surgery last Wednesday to fix a long-standing problem, and the decision to let him go under the knife before the end of this season should ensure he is fit for next term. "In hindsight doing the operation before the end of the season was certainly the right thing to do," Warnock told the Croydon Advertiser. "The surgeon has told physio Nigel Cox that he did a lot more work on the shoulder than he expected - it wasn't in a very good way. At least now he gets two weeks extra rest ahead of pre-season." Palace youngster Sean Scannell is also poised for surgery on a hernia problem.
