The Finland international hit his 11th goal of the season in Saturday's 1-0 win over Derby, but is out of contract in the summer and has yet to agree new terms.
Warnock was full of praise for Kuqi's performance against the Rams but does not know if he will have the burly frontman at his disposal next term.
"Shefki worked his guts off and got his reward," said Warnock. "Those are the goals he scores - when he hasn't got time to think and it's instant.
"He's not been himself in the last couple of games but in the first half he held us together.
"I haven't got a clue where his future lies. You will have to ask Shefki. If he doesn't stay then sometimes it's fate, if he doesn't get fixed up then maybe it is fate that he stays with us."
