Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew has called for Premier League timekeeping to be taken out of referees' hands.
Pardew believes referee Mark Clattenburg should have awarded double the four minutes of added time in Palace's 2-0 defeat to Hull on Saturday.
The Eagles manager refused to lay any blame with Clattenburg, conceding Hull deserved victory, but claimed an independent timekeeper could end any discrepancies or disputes.
"I hope Mark sits down at some point and looks at that second half, and times the substitutions coming off the pitch," said Pardew.
"I hope he times how long one free-kick took when they made eight different decisions on how to take it.
"It's understandable for them, and I've got no problem with that, but give us the time, and he didn't. And that is my big problem.
"I think there is a case, and I think it's been debated before, that timekeeping comes away from the referee.
"Someone gives us the time, and we know exactly what it is, whatever that is, we play it."
Dame N'Doye's second-half brace left Palace scratching their heads on another below-par performance, as Hull eased their relegation plight slightly.
Palace are still chasing a record Premier League finish, Pardew keen to better Tony Pulis' 11th-placed mark set last season.
Consecutive home defeats to Pulis' West Brom and Steve Bruce's Hull have stymied that aim, but Pardew remains adamant his Eagles squad is on the right track.
Pardew and chairman Steve Parish are confident about their summer recruitment plans, while also battling to hold onto in-demand stars like winger Yannick Bolasie.
"I'm pretty sure of what we've got and I think we've got good players," said Pardew.
"We know we need to strengthen a couple of areas for sure. But I don't think that performance will change my opinion.
"From the position we found ourselves in prior to West Brom, to come away with no points is hugely disappointing.
"I am a bit bemused by the performance if I'm honest. The hunger was good, the attitude was good in the dressing room; we just struggled to deliver on game day.
"A lot has to be credited to Hull, who took the emphasis away from us and we couldn't play our normal game at home.
"I'm not going to begrudge Steve and his team their win, they deserved it, they were better, and they got the win."
