Star Fonte primed for dual role
The Portuguese centre-half has occasionally been utilised in an attacking role in the closing stages of games and Warnock believes Fonte has the ability to succeed as a striker.
He told the Croydon Advertiser: "I've been impressed with Jose over pre-season. He has done very well in his usual position at centre-back and looks very strong.
"But we are short of options up front and I like the look of Jose up there - he's got some nice touches.
"I definitely see him as an option for us up front."
