Crystal Palace manager Warnock wrote a letter to Under-19 boss Sean McCaffrey asking him to release the 18-year-old from the squad because he has done no training since undergoing a hernia operation at the start of March. But, speaking to the official FAI website, it seems McCaffrey will include Scannell, he said: "The squad that we have is one of the strongest and best equipped teams that we could have brought to the UEFA Championship qualifiers. "The inclusion of Crystal Palace's Sean Scannell is a tremendous boost for the side. "He is a quality striker and possesses the skills to turn a game on its head in a matter of minutes." The Republic of Ireland play Switzerland on Sunday and Sweden on Wednesday.
