Palace incur one-point penalty
The Football League's independent Football Disciplinary Commission made the ruling following Rui Fonte's substitute appearance in the goalless draw against Sheffield United at Selhurst Park on May 3.
Rui Fonte entered the field of play after 55 minutes, despite his loan from Arsenal having expired prior to the match in question.
Palace remain in 15th position in the table but on a reduced total of 56 points.
The south London club have also been fined £20,000, of which £15,000 is suspended for one full season.
