Palace boss plays down Martin talk

The 22-year-old, who had a spell with Nottingham Forest earlier this season, has been linked with a move to Selhurst Park.[LNB]But Warnock told the South London Press: "His agent rang me and I said 'no', and then it's in the paper the next day. I'm not interested."[LNB]Warnock admitted he was interested in Birmingham winger Gary McSheffrey, who joined Forest on loan at the end of last week.[LNB]"We went after McSheffrey but we couldn't afford his wages," he added.[LNB]Meanwhile Warnock has admitted he is unlikely to be able to land on-loan defender Claude Davis on a permanent basis next season.[LNB]Davis returned from a hamstring injury to help Palace get back to winning ways with a 2-1 success over Preston on Saturday.[LNB]But the towering centre-half will head back to Derby at the end of the campaign with money tight at Selhurst Park.[LNB]"We couldn't afford his wages for next season and we couldn't afford the transfer fee," said Warnock.[LNB]"I think we have just got to be realistic and enjoy him while we have got him."[LNB][LNB]
