Ollie: Blackpool can't go on like this

On the day Blackpool opened a new south stand at Bloomfield Road bearing the name of club legend and former England captain Jimmy Armfield, it was the relegation-threatened visitors who took control of the Championship game, establishing a 2-0 interval lead through Nick Carle and Darren Ambrose.[LNB]But midfielder Charlie Adam struck shortly after the restart to haul Blackpool back into contention and first-half substitute Ben Burgess salvaged a point for the play-off-chasing Seasiders.[LNB]Holloway said: "In the first half we were like the Dog and Duck, in the second half we were like Real Madrid. We can't go on like that.[LNB]"One minute I was pulling pints and collecting subs, the next was on a luxury coach.[LNB]"At full time I was at them like an irritated Jack Russell who can't quite get the mutt out of the hole and they deserved that.[LNB]"Some of those boys who I started with didn't put a shift in for Blackpool, but some of the lads who I had put on the bench always put a shift in for the team.[LNB]"I put Ben Burgess on the bench as he had been ill for the last two days and I wanted to preserve him but in the end I had to bring him on in the first half."[LNB]Palace manager Paul Hart hailed his side's first-half performance but admitted it was all downhill after Adam pulled one back for the hosts one minute after the break.[LNB]"It was certainly a game of two halves," said Hart.[LNB]"I thought we were good value for the first half and the second half they put us under an awful lot of pressure.[LNB]"Conceding so quickly was obviously a blow but it was always going to be a struggle for us after that."[LNB]Adam's goal was a powerful effort from the edge of the area set up by the perseverance of Billy Clarke, who dispossessed Palace goalkeeper Julian Speroni.[LNB]Speroni was then able to keep Blackpool at bay until one minute from time when Burgess managed to tap home from close range at the second attempt.[LNB]And the Argentinian goalkeeper still had more to do as he denied substitute Brett Ormerod and Gary Taylor-Fletcher in stoppage time.[LNB]Hart praised Speroni's contribution and reiterated his belief the Eagles can avoid relegation.[LNB]"Our keeper's fantastic, he's got to be one of the best outside the Premiership," the manager added.[LNB]"We've got something like 19 players in our squad and we have to just get on with it.[LNB]"We're hopeful about staying up, after all no-one said it was going to be easy but we have to keep on hanging on in there.[LNB]"We said to them at half time 'keep going and doing what you've been doing and whatever you do don't concede too early'."[LNB][LNB]
