Jordan opens door to Gold takeover

Gold has been linked with a possible takeover of Palace, who were placed on the market by Jordan last year, but the former Birmingham co-owner has got history with the Eagles chief.[LNB]The duo fell out in acrimonious circumstances back in 2001 when Gold, who has also been linked with a bid for West Ham, persuaded Steve Bruce to leave his post as Palace manager to join the Blues.[LNB]But with Gold having sold his St Andrews stake to Carson Yeung and now actively looking for a new challenge, Jordan could be ready to do business, although he admits there has been no official approach.[LNB]He said: "All that stuff was tongue in cheek and is in the past now.[LNB]"The fact is, David Gold is a very successful businessman. He has done very well at Birmingham and made a lot of money, so fair play to him.[LNB]"At the moment it's hypothetical. There's been no enquiry and no offer, despite the stories in the media, which have all come from his camp.[LNB]"My job is to ensure Crystal Palace continue to have a football club, which is very costly and difficult when we're getting 12,000 through the gate."[LNB][LNB] Preston v Crystal Palace.
