John could be handed Palace chance

The 32-year-old Trinidad and Tobago international is currently without a club after leaving the Saints when his contract expired this summer. Warnock told South London Press: "I liked him last year but I've not thought about him. But I'll be making enquiries now - I wouldn't mind him coming here for a week." Warnock is concerned by the lack of strikers at the club having been frustrated in his efforts to bolster his frontline. With Shefki Kuqi turning down a new contract, Calvin Andrew out until December and Alan Lee eager to leave, Warnock is well aware of the need to strengthen. "We need strikers desperately and that's what we are concentrating on." he told The Croydon Guardian. "We have a few players on trial but that is it and we are not even close to signing anyone which is a bit worrying."
