Crystal Palace manager Dougie Freedman wants to be battling at the right end of the npower Championship table next season.

Freedman has guided the Eagles from second-bottom to 20th since taking over in January and they are six points clear of the drop zone with two games remaining.

The Scot has maintained his squad are better than their league position suggests and wants to finish this season strongly, with wins against Hull and Nottingham Forest, before setting his sights on next term.

"I want to finish as high as possible," he said. "Unfortunately results in the first part of the season were not too good and there was a lack of confidence.

"It's no achievement coming fourth or fifth from bottom at this club. We've shown against the (likes of) Cardiff, Leeds and Norwich, at the top end, what we can do.

"It's not an achievement being where we are but getting out of it is. We hope for two wins now and then move on to next season."
