Freedman takes Palace reins

Crystal Palace begin life without manager George Burley as they host rock-bottom Preston. The former Scotland boss was sacked following the 3-0 defeat by Millwall on New Year's Day, with his assistant Dougie Freedman placed in temporary charge. Burley signed former Tottenham striker Steffen Iversen prior to his dismisal and he could figure if he receives international clearance in time. Midfielder Alex Marrow is a doubt after he was withdrawn less than an hour in against Millwall with a knock to his ankle, but full-back David Wright returns after suspension. Centre-half Claude Davis will be checked over after missing out against the Lions with a hamstring strain. The Eagles have now failed to win their last five league games.
