Eagles boss misses out on Beattie
The former Celtic forward impressed in a loan-spell at Selhurst Park last season but has elected to join Swansea from West Brom, rather than return to Palace.
Warnock told the London News Shopper: "I want someone who can play up front who will come on low wages, cost nothing and score 20 goals.
"I thought I'd got Beattie but Swansea came in with a last-minute bid. It is hard work to get players."
