Davis banned for Pompey clash

Claude Davis will be missing from the Crystal Palace side which travels to Portsmouth in the Carling Cup. The big defender was shown a straight red card after giving away a penalty in the defeat by Ipswich on Saturday and serves a one-match ban. Adam Barrett, Palace's summer signing from Southend, is set to step in at centre-half. New loanee Pablo Counago could make his debut, having been ineligible to face his parent club at the weekend. Last season's top scorer Darren Ambrose missed out against Ipswich after suffering a knee injury in training and may not be risked while full-back David Wright has a torn calf muscle. Edgar Davids is not yet match fit and Sean Scannell and Lee Hills (both knee) are still sidelined.
