Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce will outline transfer plans to chairman Steve Parish in the next couple of days and options to strengthen his attack will be high on his wishlist.
Allardyce saw his side draw a blank in the goalless FA Cup third round draw at Bolton as the Eagles made it four matches without a win since the former England boss took over.
During that time they have scored just two goals and with Christian Benteke injured, Wilfried Zaha at the African Nations Cup and on-loan Chelsea striker Loic Remy making a delayed 45-minute debut at the Macron after injury, Allardyce knows he needs reinforcements to keep the 17th-placed Eagles in the Premier League.
"I saw a lot of players for the first time which gives me an indication, when I speak to the chairman next week, on what I think we need," he said.
"We shall have some money to spend but it will have to be more than a bit at this level now because the prices of players are astronomically high, particularly players in this country.
"We will have to pay what we have to pay if we can identify the right player which makes us better."
Even in their relegation battle, Allardyce is not too bothered about the prospect of a replay at Selhurst Park as it will give him another chance to get some fringe players up to speed and bolster his squad.
He believes he has enough resources to be able to cope with the two competitions, even if he does need additional quality for their Premier League scrap.
"We had nine players out - two on international duty and seven injured," Allardyce added.
"I had enough squad players to play in the FA Cup with experience and talent so the longer we go on that way the more encouraging it might be.
"The players who haven't played for a while needed this game, needed to play 90 minutes of very competitive football.
"But as long as I have the 11, 12, 14 I need for the Premier League, that is most important."
Bolton boss Phil Parkinson is also looking to reinforce his squad for the promotion push from League One, having dropped to third on Saturday because of their cup involvement.
However, he was encouraged by the performance against top-flight opposition and believes it was a confidence-booster as they continue their quest to make it back into the Championship.
"It is a good benchmark for us. We are improving as a team and a squad and we have to keep that development going in the right direction," he said.
"That will give the lads a lot of confidence that they can live in that company but it is hard work.
"We have the transfer embargo which is a great frustration for us because we have a restriction on the numbers we can have in the squad but there is a little bit of room for manoeuvre.
"Between myself and the chairman by the end of the window we will move things around and make sure this squad is strong going into the second half of the season.
"The most important thing is we don't want to lose our best young players like Zach Clough and Josh Vela who we need to develop with the club and grow back with the club.
"That is as important as adding anyone to the squad."
