Croydon Council will ensure that Selhurst Park remains a sporting venue, despite Crystal Palace's current financial woes. The Championship club are presently in the hands of administrator Brendan Guilfoyle who is actively seeking a buyer. The club could be forced to sell its prized-assets should they continue to struggle financially, but councillor Jason Perry is adamant that Selhurst Park will not be used for anything other than sporting purposes. In a statement, Perry said: "Because Crystal Palace is so important to our borough, the council wants to do everything in its powers to ensure the future of the club at Selhurst Park. "The council wants to make it clear to anyone considering a financial stake in the club that the future of the ground in non-negotiable. "As far as the council is concerned, Selhurst Park is a sports venue and it will remain that way."
