Ambrose off the mark for Eagles
Summer signing Ambrose put Palace ahead with a deflected free-kick, and centre-half Fonte was on hand to tuck away Nick Carle's cross late on.
"It was a really good work-out. I thought they were just a bit sharper than us," said Eagles boss Neil Warnock.
"But that's understandable, we've had a long trip back from America and I'm pleased to have got 90 minutes under our belts without any injuries."
