Croatia's national team will receive a 500,000-euro ($674,000) prize if they qualify for the 2014 World Cup, the Croatian Football Federation (HNS) said Thursday.

Croatia have a two-legged play-off against Iceland standing between themselves and a berth in Brazil next year.

The first leg is in Reykjavik on Friday with the return match in Zagreb on Tuesday.

The prize is to be divided among the players, the federation's spokesman Tomislav Pacak said.

The former Yugoslav republic finished their qualifying campaign a distant second behind Belgium in Group A after taking just one point from their last four games, leaving them in the play-offs.

Their best result at a World Cup was third place in 1998 in France but they missed out on the last edition in South Africa.
