Croatian defender Vedran Corluka should be fit for his side's Group C opener on Sunday against the Republic of Ireland despite suffering a right thigh injury in training, coach Slaven Bilic said Friday.

"Corluka's injury was not serious, but we sent him to do a medical check up just in case," the coach told Croatian media in Poland.

"Luckily, the MR scan showed that it was nothing serious and he should be ready for Sunday's match," Bilic said.

Corluka, 26 and capped over 50 times, quit training on Thursday due to a painful hamstring.

"Corluka should follow a particular regime of training until Sunday becasue we do not want to risk anything," Bilic added.
