Croatia boss Slaven Bilic was delighted with his side's performance in their 3-1 victory over the Republic of Ireland in their opening Group C match.

Mario Mandzukic scored twice and Nikica Jelavic also got on the scoresheet to bolster Croatia's hopes of advancing to the last eight.

With heavyweights Italy and defending European and World champions Spain also in the group, Bilic expressed his pleasure at seeing his team get their campaign off to a good start.

"My players have shown they can cope with the pressure and tension.

"Spain and Italy are favorites in our group, but I still think we are able to beat one of them," said Bilic.
