Woodards lands Alex move

Crewe Alexandra have signed Exeter City defender Danny Woodards in a £30,000 deal.

The 23-year-old left-back had rejected the offer of a new deal from the Grecians and was also a target for Crewe's League One rivals Yeovil Town.

Woodards' agent, Terry Rowe, told the Express & Echo: "Crewe is a club with a good history, they play a decent standard of football and it's a club I think Danny can really showcase his abilities with.

"Crewe think he's capable of playing much higher even than their level."

Meanwhile, midfield duo Tony Grant and Lee Bell have exited Gresty Road.

Veteran Grant has linked up with League Two newcomers Accrington Stanley, while Bell is expected to join Conference promotion hopefuls Burton Albion.
