Goalkeeper Ben Williams has signed for Crewe Alexandra following
Manchester United's decision to release him.
The 21-year-old is a familiar figure to Railwaymen supporters after spending two months on loan at Gresty Road last season and has now signed a two-year deal with the club.
Williams came through the ranks at Old trafford but did not manage to force his way into the first team, although he did sit on the bench on a number of occasions.
He has experience of playing in the Football League though, having made 14 appearances on loan at Chesterfield in the 2002-03 season and ten during his recent spell at Crewe.
Railwaymen boss Dario Gradi has previously made it clear that if he completed a deal to capture Williams he would start the new season as first choice ahead of Clayton Ince.
