Luke Varney has committed his future to Crewe Alexandra by putting pen to paper on a contract extension that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2009.
The 23-year-old was due to fall out of contract at the end of this season, but manager Dario Gradi opted to hand him the two-year extension after he started the season in good form.
Varney joined the Railwaymen from non-league Quorn FC in 2003 and has since netted 11 times in 67 Football League outings.
Meanwhile, Crewe's teenage striker Adam Wardlow has agreed to extend his loan spell at Witton Albion by a further four weeks, after he scored six times in seven appearances during his first month with the UniBond League Premier Division side.
