Stuart Tomlinson could make his first Championship start for Crewe Alexandra in Sunday's final game of the season against Millwall after Middlesbrough recalled Ross Turnbull from his loan spell at Gresty Road.
The Premiership side decided to take up the option of recalling Turnbull after Mark Schwarzer was ruled out for the rest of the season with the fractured cheekbone he suffered in Sunday's FA Cup semi-final defeat to West ham United.
Tomlinson, who is 21 next month, started the FA Cup third round loss at Preston earlier this season and has also made four substitute appearances for the club.
Turnbull moved to Alex on a season-long loan in August and made 29 Championship appearances for the club. He has yet to make his first-team debut for Boro.
