Toe blow sidelines Pope
01 Apr 2008 - 12:45:27
Crewe Alexandra striker Tom Pope is expected to miss the rest of the season due to a broken toe.
The 22-year-old had impressed for the Railwaymen in recent weeks, but suffered the injury on the eve of the 1-1 draw with Walsall, although he did last the full 90 minutes against the Saddlers.
First-team coach Steve Holland told the club's official website: "It is not impossible that Tom could play again for us before the end of the season.
"That is only an outside chance and it will depend entirely on how the bone heals.
"A broken bone usually takes five weeks to heal which would rule Tom out, but we will assess him again after three weeks how he is doing.
"He has a chance of being involved again but at the moment it is only a slim chance. If he can play a part towards the end, then that would be a bonus for us at this stage."
