Crewe Alexandra manager Gudjon Thordarson has started to cull the Gresty Road squad.
Colin Daniel will not be offered a new Gresty Road deal while George Abbey has had his contract terminated by mutual consent.
Chris McCready, Stuart Tomlinson and Mark Carrington have been told they will not be retained after their contracts expire, while Josh Thompson and Luke Danville have also been released.
"Some of them need to move on as I can't see they'll develop under me because of differences in view. If they can find themselves a future elsewhere I'll be pleased for them," said Thordarson.
"I've had no offers for (Michael) O'Connor. I've had an enquiry for one player, but not for a great deal of money. It wasn't even worth answering that with a letter.
"All the loan signings will go back so the squad has shrunk a bit. I'm seeing what is available and for what kind of money, but I need to trim down the budget.
"There will be a lot of players out of contract and the most important thing is to bring in the right people, those with character who are ready to commit into the league we are going into."
