Schumacher blow hits Alex

Crewe Alexandra expect Steven Schumacher to miss the rest of the season with a knee ligament injury.

The midfielder damaged the posterior capsule of his knee during the 3-2 defeat to Leeds United last weekend and now faces at least six weeks on the sidelines.

"We at first thought he had done his cruciate, but thankfully the scan revealed that is wasn't that," manager Gudjon Thordarson told the club's official website.

"It's bad but not that bad. But he's likely to be out for the rest of the season."
