Crewe Alexandra midfielder Ben Rix will not play again this season after being told he needs a hip operation.
The 25-year-old picked up the injury in the 1-0 win at Leyton Orient earlier this month and Alex's first-team coach Steve Holland has brought in Kenny Lunt on an emergency loan deal from Sheffield Wednesday to cover for Rix's absence.
Holland told the club's official website: "Ben won't play again for us this season. He's failed to overcome the knock he sustained at Leyton Orient.
"He'll travel to London now for his operation on his hip. He's undergoing the surgery on Monday, which will keep him out for at least four months.
"Knowing we were going to lose Ben prompted us to bring in Kenny Lunt on loan. Saturday's Leeds game will give the opportunity to use Kenny for the first time."
