Railwaymen rue Jones loss

Crewe Alexandra's first-choice left-back Billy Jones could be out of action for up to six weeks after a scan revealed cartilage damage.

The former Exeter City man was injured in his last outing against Huddersfield Town on Boxing Day and a subsequent scan confirmed the club's worst fears.

It has been a problematic area for the team throughout the season and the likes of Danny Woodards, Chris McCready and Ryan Lynch have filled in when Jones has been missing.

Better news on the injury front is that Ben Williams has not broke a foot as first feared.

The goalkeeper collided with Tranmere's Calvin Zola on New Year's Day during the epic 4-3 victory, which resulted in defender Julien Baudet taking over goal-kick duties for the rest of the game.

Williams should be available for the game with Leeds United on Monday week.
